Nick Murdick performs horn continuo with the acclaimed Trio Novissimo (www.nickandirina.com), and he recently recorded a debut CD of Telemann violin sonatas with the ensemble in Germany. Nick has held contracted orchestral horn positions with the Lansing Symphony, Battle Creek Symphony, Midland Symphony, Lexington Philharmonic, Kentucky Symphony, Billings Symphony, and Helena Symphony Orchestras. For five years Mr. Murdick served as principal horn player and hornist with the Great Falls Symphony and Chinook Winds Quintet, in Great Falls, Montana. As a freelance musician, Nick Murdick has performed with the South Bend Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Ann Arbor Symphony, Kalamazoo Symphony, Flint Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Pops and Chamber Orchestras, Columbus ProMusica and Columbus Symphony Orchestra. For the past three years, Nick designed and taught a horn and alphorn course in Graechen, Switerland. Mr. Murdick has performed as a horn and alphorn soloist with the Goppisberg International Music Festival Orchestra in Switzerland on three occasions since 2012. Nick has held graduate teaching assistantships at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Michigan State University, and Ball State University, and he has taught horn at Albion College, where one of his students won the Albion College Concerto Competition, in 2005. Nick Murdick has attended the National Orchestral Institute, Chautauqua, and Tanglewood summer music festivals, and he is engaged to perform as an alphorn soloist in Germany during the summer of 2015. Nick Murdick is honored to have had his fine art portraits displayed in exhibits at the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana and most recently at the Rembrandt House Museum apprentice studio in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
